Under the auspices of GCF’s 1M2030 platform, the Foundation is now set to launch the Life in Abundance (LiA) initiative for youth. This undertaking aims at empowering underprivileged schoolchildren by granting, with assistance from donors, multiple annual scholarships to youngsters from Jordan, Palestine, and elsewhere in the Arab world. This year’s initial round of awards will honour the late Jordanian businessman, Mustafa Nasereddin, whose “inspiration helped to save hundreds of young lives over the last two decades by medical treatments”, according to Riad al Khouri, GCF Board Member and Senior Adviser for Jordan and Arab Affairs. That was done by surgical interventions under the Gift of Life – Amman (GoLA) initiative; in turn, LiA through the Nasereddin Youth Scholarship (NYS) program hopes to build on that great legacy by empowering youth, unleashing their capacities to improve the livings of those around them and beyond. The focus of this will be on promoting social entrepreneurship founded on the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The launch event, including announcement of NYS beneficiaries, will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Amman on 1 September 2021, which marks the 70th birthday of Mr. Nasereddin. The launch will also be in the presence of GCF’s co-Founder, former Jordanian Senator H.E Talal Abu Ghazaleh. This launch event was first announced in The Jordan Times in an interview with Mr. al Khouri. To access the original article click here. More information can also be found on LiA's Facebook page.
