Geneva, August 2025 — The Global Challenges Forum Foundation (GCF) is honored to announce that it has been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This recognition affirms GCF’s mission to advance innovative frameworks for resilience, peace, and multilateral cooperation in an era of global challenges.

ECOSOC status provides GCF with the opportunity to participate directly in UN deliberations, organize official side-events at the United Nations, and submit written statements and recommendations to member states and agencies. These new privileges will strengthen GCF’s role in connecting global youth, civil society, and institutions in shaping the future of multilateralism.

“This milestone gives us new tools to connect global youth, institutions, and policymakers around a shared vision of resilience and justice,” said Dr. Walter Christman, Chairman of GCF. “We are honored to contribute to the UN’s work and will continue to build bridges across generations and nations for a more peaceful future.”

The decision comes at a pivotal moment as the world faces converging crises of climate disruption, technological transformation, and geopolitical conflict. Through its initiatives—the Geneva Covenant of Mutual Obligation, the Global Resilience Compact, and the One Million Youth Leaders for Sustainable Development Beyond 2030 (1M2030) campaign—GCF will now be able to elevate its contributions within the UN system, amplifying youth leadership and fostering new models of global cooperation.

This achievement coincides with two milestones in the Foundation’s journey: the 15th anniversary of the Global Challenges Forum and the 10th anniversary of the Geneva Declaration, both of which reflect GCF’s long-standing commitment to building global resilience through intergenerational dialogue, institutional innovation, and moral responsibility.
