Expanding Global Resilience: A Vision for the Future
In an era of global uncertainty, resilience is more than a necessity—it is a movement. Building Global Resilience: A Call to Action and its companion facilitation guide, Empowering Change, are the work of Dr. Walter Christman, Chairman and Founding Director of the Global Challenges Forum. A globally recognized thought leader, Dr. Christman champions a new mindset to build next-generation resilience through innovation, collaboration, and bold action.
A Transformative Framework for Action
The book and facilitation guide are now evolving into an online certificate program, offering:
- Knowledge Curation – Understanding resilience as a driver of global progress.
- Connectivism – Forging networks that turn ideas into impact.
- Action Learning – Transforming principles into real-world solutions.
A Landmark Launch in Mumbai
Building Global Resilience was launched in Mumbai on November 16, 2024, marking a pivotal moment on the United Nations International Day for Tolerance—a theme deeply embedded in the book’s call for global cooperation. This date also celebrates the anniversary of the Global Challenges Forum’s founding in Geneva in 2010, reinforcing its mission of fostering resilience through strategic foresight and action.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Sundeep Waslekar and Dr. Beatrice Bressan, explored the contrasts and synergies between Building Global Resilience and Dr. Waslekar’s book, World Without War, offering powerful insights into shaping a more sustainable and conflict-free world.
The Global Resilience Compact & 1M2030 Initiative
The Global Resilience Compact is mobilizing changemakers worldwide. Aligned with the One Million Youth Leaders for Sustainable Development (1M2030) initiative, this effort equips the next generation with the tools and knowledge to lead transformative change.
A key step is the development of a 1M2030 Global Citizenship Certificate, which connects youth skilling with the vision of a Global Resilience University and ensures that learning translates into impact.
What’s Next?
The journey continues with:
- Expanding institutional partnerships to mainstream resilience education.
- Hosting global conversations to amplify the book’s message.
- Launching an online learning platform to empower leaders worldwide.
Resilience is not just about enduring change—it is about shaping it. Join us in this movement to build a more connected, sustainable, and resilient future.
